Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 319

Sorry for the late prompt this Wednesday. Busy morning. But the great thing about this prompt is that it always gets posted eventually.

For this week’s prompt, write a poem using at least three of the following six words:

  • paddle
  • robot
  • custard
  • quibble
  • glance
  • wrench

If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably try to include all of them. But seriously, three is fine, and they can be placed anywhere–in the poem, in the title of the poem (you decide).

Here’s my attempt at a Three-out-of-six-word Poem:

“The Love Song of Lieutenant Commander Data”

Let us depart then, you and I,
When the holodeck is set up like an evening sky
Or a Klingon bat’leth removed from a table.
Let us paddle, through certain half-remembered holograms,
The fluttering programs
Of wrench-less nights on the bridge of the Enterprise
And a quick glance at my custard uniform through cold eyes:
Transporter rooms that remind one not to quibble
O’er the fate of a tribble
To lead you to an overwhelming question…
Oh, do not ask, “Are you robot?”
Let us pretend that you know not.
