Like most folks, I don’t have the funds to subscribe to every literary publication. However, one of the publications I do support is this week’s spotlight market: Boston Review.

As a potential market, Boston Review has many things to offer a poet. First, there’s the exposure of being in a nice print magazine with glossy pages and interesting images. Second, Boston Review has a pretty influential online presence as far as poetry is concerned. In other words, this is a market that will get eyes on your poems–both online and in print.
Plus, this magazine brings in a range of readers, including people interested in fiction and nonfiction. Some of the recent print issues have handled topics like democracy, luxury, and “the new nature.” Boston Review is a self-described “political and literary forum,” after all.

If you feel your work belongs in Boston Review, submit either via post or online submission (which is the submission method the editors strongly prefer). There’s no poem limit or suggestion, but it’s usually good form to keep submissions in the 3-5 poem range. The editors are also open to simultaneous submissions, though not previously published work.
