2016 April PAD Challenge: Day 23

Yesterday, I had a reader Tweet a quote of a poem from my Solving the World’s Problems collection on Twitter. It was an unexpected and touching moment, but it got me thinking that I should probably mention folks can get a copy of it up here in the opening paragraph. If you’re interested, click to continue.

For today’s prompt, write a footwear poem. A poem about shoes, flip flops, socks, slippers, flippers, boots, pumps, and so on. If you’d prefer not to dedicate a poem to your footwear, just mention footwear somewhere in the poem. That’s right; your hi-tops don’t have to be the star, and it’s totally cool if somebody’s clogs play a minor role in the poem.

Here’s my attempt at a Footwear Poem:

“sandals”

in summer
in georgia
there’s only
one way men
cover feet
& that is
with sandals
without socks
& until
winter comes
to cover
our cold feet

roberttwitterimageRobert Lee Brewer needs to hurry up and get a new pair of sandals before they all sell out in Georgia, because the warm temps have returned–and he wore out his last pair last summer. Shoes just won’t do.
