Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 355

For today’s prompt, write a cravings poem. The poem could be an ode to cake, fudge, or cheese. Personally, I woke up this morning with a craving for cream soda. But cravings can go well beyond food into the realms of activities, objects, and people (as well as a combination of all of the above).

Revision doesn’t have to be a chore–something that should be done after the excitement of composing the first draft. Rather, it’s an extension of the creation process!

In the 48-minute tutorial video Re-creating Poetry: How to Revise Poems, poets will be inspired with several ways to re-create their poems with the help of seven revision filters that they can turn to again and again.

Here’s my attempt at a Cravings poem:

“poem”

sometimes i feel i have to write
others i have the need to read
i know there is no wrong or right
with this impulse that needs to feed

always it seems it’s on my mind
words & yes even numbers too
some meaning i’m trying to find
& always leads me back to you
