Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 396

For today’s prompt, write a historical persona poem. This means to write a poem in the voice of someone from history. Could be ancient history or somewhat recent history, but it shouldn’t be the future (though I suppose you could write one of those for extra credit). Not a requirement, but consider using the person’s name as your title.

Here’s my attempt at a Historical Persona Poem:

“Buddy Holly”

“That’ll be the day,” I’d often say,
though I thought it was a small lie,
sort of like all my true love ways;
I’d often say, “That’ll be the day,”
but I admit it was a play,
and that I didn’t expect to die:
“That’ll be the day,” I’d often say,
though I thought it was just a lie.
