WD Poetic Form Challenge: Ovillejo Winner

Here are the results of the Writer’s Digest Poetic Form Challenge for the ovillejo. More than 30 poems made the original cut before I was able to get it down to a Top 10 list and eventual winner.

Read all the ovillejo poems in the comments here.

Here is the winner:

Painting the Lake, by Taylor Graham

How to paint the spectrum of light?
An egret’s flight.

She seeks a landscape in her brush–
a sort of hush.

No answer but blue, flake by flake,
ripples the lake.

And still she paints for painting’s sake–
not perspective, the eye’s blind reach,
but light, and what the shadows teach.
An egret’s flight. A sort of hush ripples the lake.
